I'm a working mom and Chief Public Affairs Officer at Planned Parenthood Advocates Mar Monte*, and I understand firsthand the challenges that working families face every day. Raising a small child, I know what it’s like to try to keep up with higher grocery prices, monthly utility bills that keep climbing, increased childcare costs, and housing costs that make home ownership feel out of reach for too many families.

<h2 style="text-align: center;">Congressional District 06</h2>CA-06 is a brand new district created by Prop 50 in the Sacramento suburbs. This is an open seat that Democrats need to win in order to take back the House in 2026. The district encompasses West Sacramento, East Sac, Natomas, Citrus Heights, Orangevale, Rocklin, and Roseville. Lauren is the only candidate in the race who is not a career politician and represents a new generation of leadership.

That’s why when my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, I stepped up and assisted with her daily care while I was still in high school. These experiences and challenges have driven me to fight for the people and essential programs that keep families afloat when times get tough.<h4>Today, families are being asked to do more with less, and the same old playbook from career politicians just isn’t working anymore.</h4>Throughout my career, I've taken on the tough fights to protect reproductive healthcare access in California, expand access to affordable healthcare, and ensure that people are treated fairly in the workplace. Lauren will protect and strengthen Social Security and Medicare so seniors can live with dignity. She supports expanding Medicare to cover dental, vision, and hearing care, and increasing Social Security benefits for low-income seniors. Seniors should not have to struggle to afford basic care.

Supporting Our Seniors

As a working mom, Lauren understands how vital affordable childcare and eldercare are for families. She’ll champion a national paid Family and Medical Leave program, expand the Child Tax Credit, and invest in universal childcare, Head Start, and Pre-K. Lauren will also work to raise pay and improve conditions for care workers and ensure seniors have access to quality home care services.

Strengthening Our Care Economy

Lauren believes America can and should set the standard for innovation that is both groundbreaking and trustworthy. We can lead the world in emerging technology while ensuring innovation expands financial inclusion, strengthens public trust, and works for workers, families, and small businesses.&nbsp;Lauren supports legislation like the CLARITY Act, the GENIUS Act, and other efforts to establish clear rules for safe development of emerging technologies.

Innovation that Works for People

Every family deserves to feel safe. Lauren will work to pass universal background checks, reinstate the federal assault weapons ban, and prevent gun access for individuals with violent histories. She’ll expand federal support for community violence intervention, crisis response, and mental health programs to keep Sacramento area families safe.

Public Safety

We need to ease the everyday costs that families face: from healthcare and housing to food and education. Lauren will prevent price gouging on groceries and essential goods. She'll expand programs to help first-time homebuyers and strengthen renter protections. She also supports student loan debt relief. She’ll work to create jobs and drive economic growth, helping families get ahead.

Lowering Costs

Everyone deserves access to affordable, high-quality care. Health care works best when everyone is covered and no one has to choose between seeing a doctor and paying rent. When we have Health Care for All, we cut waste, prevent expensive emergencies, and use our collective buying power to bring down prices. Lauren will work to lower prescription drug costs, protect and expand Medicare, and restore funding for programs that serve vulnerable families—paid for by taxes on corporations. She’ll also fight to restore funding for Planned Parenthood and protect reproductive freedom. Lauren will work towards universal healthcare as a north star.
